一応登ってみました「エンパイアステートビル」。
正直なところ20ドル払ってエレベーターで上がっただけじゃん？みたいな。
でも、そうは言っても生涯に一度は登っておいて損はないだろう。「俺さ、エンパイステートビルに登ったんだぜ！」って言えるから。ちなみに我が故郷にある「札幌テレビ塔」には登ったこと無し。まぁ、そんなもんだよ。
面白いのは「観光地」というのは世界中どこも似たり寄ったりということ。
売店があり、お土産物が売られている。クッキー、キーホルダー、そしてTシャツに置物。
買ったあとで後悔するブツ、である。

それで一つポイントとしては展望台からの写真を撮ったのは収穫だ。細かな話だがこういう写真を自分で撮るということは「著作権が自分に帰属している写真を持つ」ということなのでエンパイアステートビルが私のストックに加わったということになる（写真の著作権というのは撮った人に帰属するのです。ただ、肖像権や被写体自体が著作物の場合はまた別。）
さらに当サイトはアクセス数が少ないので著作権保護のウオーターマーク（透かし）を入れていない。本来であれば入れるべきという考え方もある。実はWebで使われている画像って無断利用されているケースが少なからずあるのだ。
特にこうした観光地の写真というのは使われやすい。私の場合は敢えて作家色を出しているので汎用性に乏しい撮り方をしている。そうは言ってもストックフォトとして使えなくもない。掲載しているサイズもWebならば十分使えるサイズだ。
その一方、私の写真には「個人が特定できるアングル」というのは無いと思う。確かにスナップがメインという写真の性質から時折混ざってしまうことはある。でもそうした場合でもなるべく分からないように加工したりしているのは「肖像権」の問題があるからだ。不特定多数が混ざっている場合はさほど気にしないが明らかに個人が単独で特定できるような写真は使わないように心がけている（ついつい情緒的な写真の場合は使ってしまうが）。
人物が入るとそれだけで写真の価値がグッと上がるのも事実だがそれ以上に肖像権を取り巻く事情によりそれができない。まぁバカみたいに気ままに撮って載せているわけじゃないのだよ。
