まだ、調子悪い・・・。
久しぶりに39度オーバーの発熱は正直辛いし、何も出来ないという時間が勿体ない。
日常が忙しいわけでは無いのだが、体力の回復を待つだけの時間というのは短いに越したことはない。鍛え方が足りないのかも。
それで私の周囲でにわかに巻き起こっている「英語ブーム」。
アラサー、というよりはもうアラフォーなんだがそんなオヤジたちが急に英語を勉強しだす光景というのはなかなか時代を反映していて興味深い。最近ではウッチーも始めたようだ。
普段仕事で英語使っている人で私と同年代の人であればTOEIC900点越えていても不思議ではないし、恐らくそれが普通なのかも知れない。英語が「できる」と自己申告して良いレベルは恐らくこのクラスだと思う。なので私はいつも「私は英語が話せない」と答えている。
事実、第三者から聞いててどういう風に聞こえるのか分からないのだが私自身は自分で話している英語の「間違い」を自覚している。でもこれがなかなか直らない。勉強不足と言われれば甘んじてその非難を受け入れるしかないのだが、どういう訳か時折「英語はどこで勉強しましたか？」と聞かれる。
この質問に含まれる意図としては；
・こいつ英語話しているけど下手くそだな。どこで勉強したんだ？
・こいつ英語そこそこ話しているけど、日本人にしては珍しくね？
のいずれか。
海外渡航経験では14カ国もあるがこの中で英語圏は二カ国で、しかも一つはハワイだ。
なので大学受験、大学の二つの時代となる。ただそれらもすでに20年近く前の話で英語を使うようになったのは極端な話が「昨年」からだ。
そう考えると「独学」ということになる。
しかも使った参考書は；
この3つ（再三の登場でくどいですがこれだけです）。TOEIC対策の際にはこれ以外の参考書使いましたが、最初に受けたとき（735点）の時はduoシリーズだけしか使っていませんでした。
そう考えるとわずか三千円弱の出費で最近世間で言われている「TOEIC730点以上」というのは手の届くところにあるということになる。
なので留学しないと英語ができないというのは言い訳にしかならない。
どこで勉強しようが関係ないのだよ。
