「年末年始」というだけで「酒呑む理由」があるわけですが皆さん呑んでますか？
私はけっこうトンチンカンな呑み方して少々胃が弱っています・・・・。
それで年末についに封を開けてしまったのが先日横田基地で買ってきた「ミリタリースペシャル」である。
いわゆるジンなんですが1Lでお値段6.5ドルほど。時価にして540円ほどです。
恐らく国内の「ジン相場」で言うと半額程度かと。ゴードンとかタンカレーと比べたら1/3くらいのお値段ということか。
ただ、ラベルがどうもチープというか、「北朝鮮のお酒」みたいなラベルです。愛想が一切無い。
「アメリカ」という国柄考えるともう少しなんかあっても良いような気がするし、「ミリタリースペシャル」という「価格勝負」みたいなものの場合味も雑な、ケミカルな感じなのかも？と嫌な予感もします。
ちなみに私はスピリッツ呑むときはウィスキー以外はたいてい「炭酸割り」で呑みます。
フレーバーの無い炭酸というのは飲むお酒を引き締め、水割りよりも「ドライ感」があって好きなのです。炭酸の発砲度合いの強い状態を「キックが効いている」というのですが、グラスを口元に運ぶとシュワシュワ感が目に刺さるようなのが大好きです。
いささか話がそれた。
それでこのジンですがどっかのOEMだと思われるのだがこれがラベルに何も書いていない。アリゾナ州あたりで作られたものらしいがメーカー名も分からない。アルコール度数は37.5度と書いてありポピュラーなジンである。
香りはゴードンやビフィーターほど強くなく、ほのかにジンの香りがする程度。
さて、早速試飲してみると、有名メーカー製のもののように甘みは無く、「ドライ」です。
このドライ感好きだねぇ。
炭酸との相性も良い。
これは良い買い物をした。重たかったけど苦労した価値ありました。
結局、500mlの炭酸を5本ほど空けてしまい、気付くとボトル半分ほどになっていた。
明らかに呑みすぎである。
