スターバックスとツタヤが併設されている店舗だと、ツタヤの本をスタバに持って行って読めるというサービスがある。どこでもそうなのか知らないが、これはなかなか勇気のあるサービスだと思う。
新刊だろうがなんだろうが読み放題なわけだから。ただ、昨今ここまでやらないと書店に来て貰えないという事情があるのかも知れないが。
一度も使ったことの無いサービスだったがせっかくなので使ってみることに。タバコ吸っている頃はスタバなんぞは不便で高いだけのコーヒー屋だと思っていたが、なるほどな、と感じた点もチラホラ。
「お一人様三冊まで」と注意書きがあり、初めてで勝手が分からないのでとりあえず二冊持ってスタバの方へ移動。これがなんか変な感じ。会計前の本を持ってコーヒー買って、読み終わったら売り場に戻すのだから。
手にした本が箭内道彦と桜井章一というあたりが読書センスの無さが伺えるが、まぁ良しとしよう。
それでざっと二冊ほど読んでコーヒー代が400円くらいだからコストパフォーマンスは良い。本を二冊買えば二千円超えるが、コーヒー代だけで本が読めるのはありがたい。読み終わったらどうせブックオフに持って行くものだからその手間も不要。
使い方によってはジャンル問わず新刊書や雑誌が読めるのでマンガ喫茶よりも効率が良いかも知れない。
また、朝も8時くらいから営業しているようなので、朝型の私にはありがたい。
純粋に消費者として甘んじて享受したいサービスだ。
