先日、ウッチーがツイッターで「江ノ島にいるから誰か来いよ♪」とささやいていたのを見つけ、最近ちょいちょいつるんでいるLと一緒に行ってきた。私は人生初の江ノ島である。
初めて着いて予想していたが若者だらけである。都心から電車で行きやすい海水浴場というだけはある。
まもなくウッチーと合流し軽く腹ごしらえ。この界隈は「しらす」が有名らしいがこの日はあいにく「生しらす」は揚がってないとのこと。ひとまずウッチー御用達のそば屋で軽くメシ（当然軽くビールも）。
一応「しらす丼」はあるようだが蕎麦とセットじゃないとダメだという。蕎麦は好きなので問題なし。どんな蕎麦かと思いきや、けっこうレベル高い。しらす丼とセットで980円はお値打ち感あり。
蕎麦の細かく切れてしまうので十割じゃなかろうかと思ったがウッチー曰く「二八」だという。
久しぶりにオーセンティックな感じの蕎麦を食べた。けっこうボリュームもあってこういう店が近所にあればなぁ、と思ったりもする。
腹ごしらえした後はとりあえず海へ。二年ぶりに海に入る（写真なし）。それにしてもこの辺の海はお世辞にも綺麗とは言えない。海はやはり房総の方が良いようだ。そうは言ってもやはり海遊びは楽しかった。あの波の感じがなんとも心地よい。サーファーの気持ちが少し分かった。
海の家でビールを飲み、なんか「夏休みっぽさ」を満喫。
海遊びのあとはここから徒歩で行けるウッチーの爺ちゃんの家へ。腰越の閑静な住宅街にあるその家は増改築を繰り返しながらも「昭和感満載」である。
一緒に行ったL（米国人）も喜んでいた。そりゃ日本人の私が見ても驚き感動するような家だもの。
それでウッチーの爺さんは元々絵描き（現在は引退）とのことで家の二階にはけっこう大きなスペースのアトリエがある。梁がむき出しで天井が高く開放感がある。当時の建物としてはかなりモダンだったのではなかろうか。
クリエイティブな生き方を感じる。
壁には四畳半くらいの画が飾ってあったりとなかなか珍しい光景だ。
程なくしてまた腹が減り、どこでメシを食おうかと思案する。するとウッチーが；
「旨い焼き鳥屋あるよ。」
ということでそこに行くことに。
この店が何というか味わい深いというか、誰かに教わらないと躊躇してしまうクラスの胡散臭さ。
入り口なんて「裏口」みたいだし、外観が明らかにやばい。たぶん、開拓精神溢れる私でもその店の前は「素通りする」ようなたたずまい。
店内に入ると外観から想像すると同じかそれ以上の雑多な店内。10人も入ったら一杯だろう。開店早々に行ったので気付かなかったが焼き鳥の焼き台は客が座る席の後方にあり、良い意味での無理矢理感があり、味わいを演出している。ただ、感心したのはこの店はきちんと「炭」なのである。今のご時世ガスやら電気が多いが店の規模にしては珍しい。また生ビールは無く、瓶ビールだし、ホッピーも「氷無し」で供する正統派。店主もいささかクセがあり隠れた名店と言える。
メシのあとは再度ビーチに戻り、昼間とは打って変わったクラブと化した海の家を徘徊。なんか若返る。初めての体験だが夜の江ノ島というのはこういうノリなんだな♪もう少し事前準備をしておけば良かったな。
ひとしきり遊んで駅に向かおうということで歩いていると「仲間内だけで盛り上がっている海の家」を発見。そこへ三人で乱入した。
ただ、やはりこういうところで本領発揮するのがこの男である；
たぶんこの男は世界平和実現できるかも知れないくらいアウェイに強い。国籍や年齢なんて関係なく、この言語を越えて人と仲良くなる才能は本当に凄い。帰る頃には全員とハイタッチ＆ハグしてましたからねぇ。私も輪の中に入ろうとしましたが明らかに勢いが異次元でした。
あのおもしろい体型も意図的に維持しているんだろうな。
ウッチーはやはり偉大な男である。
