スポーツクラブではトレーニング用のグローブしたり、腰にベルト巻いている人たちを見かけると思う。私もそうだ。
恐らく普通の人には「なんか気持ち悪ぅ～。」と思われているかと思う。
でもね、あれは本当に「必要」なのです。
忘れることは滅多に無いが、たまに洗濯して干したままで来てしまい、持ってくることを忘れることがある。
こういう時はほぼ筋トレしない。
なぜかというとグローブなしでバーベルやらダンベル持つと手に豆ができ、手の皮が剥けるのである。想像できないかと思うが基本的にバーベルの類は持ち手のところが滑り止め効果を狙って作られており、ちょっとしたヤスリみたいになっている（手が痛い）。
軽い負荷ならまだしもさすがに持つ重さが重くなると「素手」では持ちたくない（※ベンチプレスで40kg以上持つ人は買っても悪くない）。
また、腰ベルトは腰痛防止が主たる目的である。
グローブもベルトも怪我防止効果もある。
それでこれらを買うといくらくらいするのか？
グローブなら二千円程度のもので十分だ。天龍なんて「イボ付き軍手」でトレーニングしていたくらいだ。「高い＝良い」というものでもないが、高いものを使うことでモチベーションが高まるならそれもOK。あくまで個人の好み。
これはゴールドジムのグローブで私も過去に何度となく使ったがこれはお勧めしない。というのもこれは手のひらの部分の革が厚すぎるのである。使っていれば馴染むのだが、強度的に弱い。手に馴染んだ頃にぼろぼろになる。
また、通販で買うより一度店頭でサイズを合わせた方が良い。
それで私が使っている「HERBINGER」というどこの国のメーカーか分からない（※東急ハンズで購入）が、店頭で実物を確認して買っている。サイズは「S」サイズを使っている（手が小さいのよね）。値段も質もなかなか良いので何度も買っている。
また、ベルトは「革製」が良いと思われるだろうが革製の場合、同じ穴しか使わないのでそこから傷むのと、微調整がしづらいので「マジックテープ式」をお勧めする。ただ、ベルトの場合はスポーツクラブに置いてあるものを使えば問題ない。そもそも使用頻度に比して安いものでもない。
一方、ウェアやシューズは一昔前より断然充実している。最近では「運動着」というより「アパレル感満載」でおしゃれで可愛いウェアも多い。ユニクロも注力している。そう考えるとやはり昔よりは選択の幅は広がっている。そもそも「同じウェアの人たち」というのを見かけたことがないのでそれだけ種類が流通しているということだろう。
道具のお金の使い方は個人の好みで問題ないが、ヨレヨレの短パン、Tシャツでトレーニングするよりもちょっと派手なウェアでトレーニングした方が注目度は高いかも知れない。実際には誰も観てないのだが『観られているかも！？』というのはモチベーションに繋がる。
少しくらい格好付けた方がテンションも上がってトレーニングにも気合いが入ってよろしい。
テンション上げてノリノリでやる方が効果的。
