ダイエット開始後一週間くらい経過すると生理現象に変化が起きてくる。「変化」の種類に関してはダイエットの方針によって個人差があると思う。今回の基本方針は;

・食事は高タンパク、低脂質、低カロリーのもの。炭水化物、穀類などは極力食べない。ただし、低GI食品(そば、玄米)は食べる場合もある。

・週に4回以上のトレーニング。運動負荷は通常時よりも高負荷。また、トレーニング後はプロテインを摂取。

・足りない栄養はサプリメントで補う。

こんな感じである。それで実際に起きる生理現象の変化として;

・味覚過敏

・便秘と頻尿

・性欲減退

主にこの三つである。一つずつ説明しよう。

●味覚過敏

味覚か鋭くなっている気がする。特に「甘味」に関しては今まで以上に敏感(甘く)に感じる。日頃からヴァームウオーターを飲んでいるが、いつもよりもかなり甘く感じる。糖質を避けている食生活、および空腹でも食べず疲労が回復していない状態がしばし続いていることに起因すると思われる。

「判断食」すると味覚が変わると聞いたことがあるが、恐らくそれに近い。料理のときも塩加減がしづらい。

●便秘と頻尿

先週から一度しか便意をもよおしていない。食事に炭水化物や繊維質を摂っていないからだ。絶対的な食事量が少ないというのもあると思うが、便秘の時のような膨満感は無く、意外と普通な感じ。一方、運動(特に有酸素運動)とアミノ酸摂取などによる代謝上昇に伴う「尿意」は通常時よりも多い。

●性欲減退

これには諸説あるらしい。減量時に性欲減退を感じる男性の発生率は50%程度とも言われている。医学的には交換神経の中で性欲よりも食欲が優先され、食欲が満たされていない状態だから、ということのようだ。そりゃ性欲より食欲だよな、と納得。よくボクサーが減量中や試合前は「セックスしない」というジンクスを持っているが、極限まで減量するボクサーが試合直前にセックスできるような状態だとは思えないので「ジンクス」というよりもそもそもできない状態だと容易に察しが付く。

こうしてみるとやはり食事制限や食事の質を変えることで起きる生理現象の変化はそれぞれに合理的な理由がある。

ちなみに過去の経験からもこれらは食生活をダイエット前の状態に戻すことでまた戻る。人によっては性欲が強化されるという人もいる(ダイエットで生殖機能が強化されるという話は聞いたこと無い。調べてみると体型改善から生まれる自信や運動能力向上に起因する)。

こうしたダイエット中の体の変化は個人差や内容によるので一概に言えないが、普段と違う生活内容になることは間違いないのでいろいろな体調の変化が起きても不思議ではない。

それだけ人間の体は環境に応じて変化するという証拠でもある。
